    It is enough to walk through its historic center to feel immediately transported to other times. Such important figures as Archduke Luis Salvador claimed that he was the most beautiful on the island. Its curious name comes from the Arabic 'suliar', which means golden bowl, to describe the fertile valley of orange trees that surrounds it. The hand of Joan Rubió i Bellver, a well-known disciple of Gaudí, can be seen in the architecture of Sóller.
