It is a place of distinctive beauty which is crossed the equator and on a high altitude, it boasts snowcapped rolling mountains, lush greenery and flat savanna grasslands, the world’s largest fresh water body Lake Victoria, the source of the longest river in the world the river Nile. Uganda boasts of the largest population of the endangered mountain gorillas in the world and over 1080 recorded species of birds. A visit to Uganda gives you the BIG 5 of Africa and the unique two. Over 56 tribes and languages, gives Uganda uniquely varied culture seen in dress, food and dances.

    A once in a lifetime experience

    There slightly over 1500 individuals left in the whole world and Uganda is home to approximately 56% of them. These gentle giants are among the great Apes and close to human at about 96% human genetic formation. They bear similar characteristics to humans. One needs a permit to see them and this has to be bought much earlier before the trek is done. As they are few you need to secure your in good time. Before the trek there is a briefing done on safety rules. The trek can last anywhere from 2 hours to the whole day depending on where they are but definitely a worth it experience, that can last a full day.

    Uganda's Culture is varied and unique as there are over 56 tribes speaking different languages, having unique dress, food and characteristics. The largest tribe and oldest organised society are called the Baganda are found in the central region and ruled by a cultural leader King/Kabaka. Other tribes have Kingdoms and chiefdoms. Unlike in the past these roles are mostly ceremonial some are inherited and others are elected.

    The Nile starts its journey from lake Victoria as it snakes its way to the Mediterranean Sea, a journey of 3 months. it brings lively hood to the people along its path. It can also be an amazing source of adrenaline adventure activities like white water rafting and bungy jumping that is done on the Nile in Jinja. Music lovers can enjoy the annual music festival called Nyege Nyege that happens at the source of the Nile.
