There\u2019s something about\u00a0Edinburgh\u00a0that never gets old. The combination of history, atmosphere, and surprisingly diverse venues makes it a destination we keep coming back to. With the team we visited Edinburgh in March and the focus was clear: reconnect with our long-term DMC partner\u00a0Cashel Travel<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and deepen our destination knowledge for both MICE and high- end group travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as always\u2026 Edinburgh delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 1 \u2013 from Leith charm to iconic evenings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our visit kicked off in the charming district of\u00a0Leith, where the team of Cashel Travel <\/strong><\/a>welcomed us in their truly unique office set in a picturesque church. A setting that perfectly reflects how they operate: personal, authentic, and full of character. After catching up and aligning on exciting future opportunities, it was time to head into the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlight: views from Calton Hill<\/strong> and beer tasting at Brewhemia
<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Calton Hill is a must for any itinerary. The views over the city are simply unmatched and set the tone immediately. Ideal for a welcome moment or a first introduction to Edinburgh. This is where groups instantly feel they\u2019ve arrived somewhere special. Brewhemia is a lively and versatile venue that works incredibly well for groups. Think informal networking, live music vibes, and a great selection of local beers. Perfect for breaking the ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Site Visit: The Balmoral Hotel<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An Edinburgh classic. Timeless elegance, prime location, and a level of service that makes it ideal for high-end incentives and VIP groups. Next stop was dinner at Rabble Edinburgh. A true gem for MICE groups. Stylish yet relaxed, with a great atmosphere and flexibility for group dining. One of those venues that just works every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2 \u2013 diving into history & discovering unique venues<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Day two was all about experiencing the deeper layers of the city history, culture, and standout venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlight: The Real Mary King’s Close<\/strong> and walking the Royal Mile<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An immersive journey beneath the city streets. Unique, engaging, and slightly mysterious. Exactly the kind of experience that makes Edinburgh stand out for groups. The beating heart of the Old Town. Lively, historic, and full of character perfect for guided walks or informal exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experiences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A must-do in Scotland<\/a> is the Scotch Whisky Experience. Interactive, accessible, and ideal for groups looking to dive into the world of whisky in a fun and engaging way. After this it is perfect to go for lunch at Bertie’s for a proper Fish & Chips. Sometimes you just need the classics and this delivers. A great, informal option for groups wanting a taste of local comfort food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afternoon site visits \u2013 MICE Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh<\/strong><\/a>: one of the standout properties of the trip. Bold design, vibrant atmosphere and an impressive ballroom that makes it perfect for events and group stays. A real game changer in the Edinburgh hotel scene.
Furthermore the National Museum of Scotland<\/strong> is a spectacular venue for gala dinners. The architecture alone creates a wow factor that’s hard to beat , ideal for large-scale events. Another highlight is the Signet Library<\/strong>. Elegant, exclusive, and incredibly atmospheric. Perfect for dinners, receptions, and high-end gatherings. One of those venues that instantly elevates any program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evening Highlight: Darts & Unexpected Champions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We wrapped up the day in a more relaxed setting with a game of darts, which is always a good idea for group bonding. And somehow\u2026 Raymon took the win. Still under discussion how that happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 3 \u2013 castles, celebrations & a modern twist<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our final day started with a celebration: Ernst\u2019s birthday. Great reason to visit the Edinburgh Castle<\/strong> as birthday highlight. An absolute must. Towering over the city, rich in history, and offering incredible views. Whether it\u2019s a guided visit or a more exclusive event setup, this location never disappoints. Of course, no birthday is complete without cake and we made sure to do it properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final site visit: W Edinburgh<\/strong> & the sound of Scotland<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A striking contrast to the city\u2019s historic feel. The W Edinburgh<\/strong> is modern, bold, and architecturally unique. Perfect for clients looking for something different and design driven. As if Edinburgh knew we were leaving, we were treated to the sound of traditional bagpipers echoing through the streets. One of those simple yet powerful moments that captures the spirit of the destination perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And just like that, it was time to head back to Amsterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This site visit was more than just a check-in, it was a reminder of why Edinburgh continues to be such a strong destination for MICE and group travel. The diversity of venues, the depth of experiences, and the strength of partners like Ca<\/a>shel Travel<\/a> make it incredibly easy to create something truly memorable here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
