Exciting Developments | Accommodations in Southern Africa

Kruger Shalati: Train on the Bridge

One of the most anticipated and exciting new accommodation offerings coming to the iconic Kruger National Park set to open mid-December 2020 is the Kruger Shalati: Train on the Bridge. Kruger Shalati is located on the Selati Bridge above the Sabie River, on the exact spot where the train would park overnight in the early 1920s when the first visitors came to the area. Created with sustainability in mind, the hotel was made with reclaimed items salvaged from the area and the demolition of previous structures to use as building materials, features and décor.

Comprising 24 carriage rooms, exclusively for guests 12 years and older, as well as 7 Bridge House land-based rooms, set to open in 2022. Rates will be inclusive of all meals, house-drinks and 2 game drives daily. Complimentary airport transfers too and from Skukuza Airport are also included.

Truly a unique luxury accommodation experience in the heart of South Africa’s largest national reserve for Big 5 game viewing.

New Hotel Experience in Sandton, Johannesburg

Hotel Sky Sandton is the newest and most exciting addition to the South African hotel industry, offering world-class luxury at affordable prices, and they’re bringing some amazing technology to the country as well.

Centrally located in the heart of Africa’s business hub, Hotel Sky Sandton offers 453 rooms, several conference venues, and a selection of world-class restaurants and bars. Set to open in November 2020 with another hotel planned for Cape Town to be completed in early 2021. Beautifully decorated, the hotel is just a block away from the Sandton Convention Centre and Sandton City, as well as the head offices of most of South Africa’s biggest corporates and businesses.

Of course, the highlight of any stay at Hotel Sky Sandton will be the interaction with their three artificial intelligence powered robotic assistants – Micah, Lexi and Ariel… At your service almost 24/7 (they will require some RnR to recharge their batteries occasionally), these three incredible machines will assist with guest relations, answering all your questions about Hotel Sky, the local attractions, and even the universe! This means by using the robots and the unique App system, guests can access a room without ever having to interact with people if they wish – something very unique to South Africa. A definite recommendation for incentive clients.

Victoria Falls Hotel reopened again

For over 116 years, the legendary Victoria Falls Hotel has been welcoming intrepid travellers through their doors and has been the home of hospitality in Zimbabwe. We are delighted to announce that their doors have once again opened on the 1st of November and they are ready to welcome guests back to the Grande Dame. New Restaurant Precinct for Kruger Park

The Kruger Shalati concession also includes the Kruger Station precinct at Skukuza, which encompasses eateries, a bar, gift cart, a 360 degree cinema, coffee and ice-cream café, and a kids’ zone. The Kruger Station represents a rebirth of what was once known as the Selati Station, linked to the route on which the Selati Railway once ran. This new lifestyle precinct will offer exceptional value for money experiences within the Kruger National Park on a multitude of levels, from retail and food to theatrical storytelling.

The major feature on the location is the 3638 Restaurant headed up by local celebrity chef Andrew Atkinson and promises to be a celebration of the historic Kruger Park while paying homage to the modern-day visitor by showcasing boutique dining and a unique new food offering never before available in the Kruger National Park.  Diners can expect food unique to South Africa such as crispy homemade samosas with venison bobotie and mango chutney as one of the fillings, while other dishes include succulent burgers (chicken, beef and vegan), handcrafted pizzas topped with kudu bobotie among other toppings, and mains such as butter chicken bunny chow, duck ragu with pappardelle pasta, a game ‘Shisa Nyama’ (traditional braai) sharing platter – and so much more.
